Island Voice: Hip-Hop Kreyol Artist “P-Jay”

P-Jay Feat. Flav (Gabel): Fok Mwen Ale

Crowd gathers inside Moca Café. Anticipation is in the air for the new video release. P-Jay feat Flav (Gabel) called “Fok Mwen Ale.” The second explosive single from P-Jay’s debut album is currently skyrocketing up the charts produced by PhatG. The song title means, “I gotta leave.” Its about his girlfriend cheating on him with another girl, where he feels helpless competing with a female to save his relationship.  P-Jay has been rapping and song writing since the age of 11. He’s currently signed to RKM Recordz. “He brings a different flavor and something new to the people of Haiti” says Blake Seide, CEO at RKM Recordz. Bridging the gap. P-Jay would definitely like to work with other hip-hop artist such as Fabulous, Jay- Z and Drake.

With not much support from the Haitian community, that is trying to adapt to this rising genre. The Haitian culture has been down playing Hip-Hop Kreyol calling it to “Americanize.” P-Jay will never let that be an excuse to make it to the next level. He’s proven that these two genres can exist within one culture. The album is being dropped on May 6th featuring Flav, T-Joe, MikaBen (Kompa artists) and Bon Flo, Abojah, MikaBen (Rap Kreyol artists) to name a few.  Look forward to the first album in Hip-Hop Kreyol, that will merge the two genres and which will also include a couple of established veterans in Kompa music and mainstream Hip-Hop.
